Children’s ‘Scary Stories’ Writing Competition
The Mayoress will be announcing the winners of the 2026 Bookfest ‘Scary Stories’ competition which local schoolchildren have entered. The winning stories will be read to the audience and recorded.

*Short reading sessions (approx. 10 mins.) at intervals between 1.20 and 3.40 pm.
Guests are invited to contribute to our interactive Literary Graffiti and Collective Collage poem. In the children’s area there will be facepainting, temporary tattoos, colouring/drawing activities, a dressing up box, photo frame and reading corner.
