Events

Join in workshops and activities, make connections and build networks

In addition to our annual BookFest Event, at which all local writers and illustrators have an opportunity to showcase their work, alongside workshops and interactive activities, we run monthly Open Mic sessions with guest speakers and contributions from local writers, and also Author Presentations, monthly sessions at which individual authors, playwrights and poets can present their work.

Open Mic

Meet Authors, Poets and Illustrators

Glossop Bookfest hosts monthly Open Mic events. Our aim is to attract, encourage and promote local writers such as poets and storytellers to share their work on an open platform. We understand that for many writers this can be a daunting challenge, but they needn’t worry as the audience and fellow performers are an appreciative and welcoming group who will support their efforts.

Author Presentations

Are You An Author? Do you live in or near Glossopdale?

Would you like an opportunity to present your books to an audience and offer them for sale?

We’re planning to run regular monthly sessions, probably Thursday evenings in Glossop Labour Club, each devoted to ONE author. If you think you’d like to participate, please contact us at hello@glossopbookfest.co.uk.

We’ll ask for a small donation (£5) towards the cost of room hire – we choose the Labour Club because hire costs are fairly low. (The BookFest has no political affiliations!)
