Writing the Life - Biographies

Margaret C. Jones

Margaret C. Jones is known for her biographies of remarkable women, from an Anglo-Saxon princess to a Black female spy in the American Civil War. Her autobiographical pieces have appeared in Christian Science Monitor, Red Pepper and The Spark. She has also ghost-written two personal memoirs. Her illustrated talks to audiences in the UK and the United States have been called ‘fascinating’ and ‘stimulating’.

In this workshop for Bookfest, Margaret will share helpful tips about writing biography, including choosing your subject, tracing sources, and crafting your story. Though the main focus will be on third-person narrative, she will be happy, during group participation, to address questions relating to autobiography and memoir.

Come and unleash your creativity and share your life story with others!

Illustrating Workshop

Tess Gee

‘ I am a self taught illustrator, as far as I can remember I have always found comfort in drawing. I use it as a tool for processing and adjusting to the world around me. I find inspiration in the asymmetry in nature, nothing is perfect and I think that is beautiful. I often use symbolism and hone in female form.
I now sell illustration prints, do commissions and the odd window has been decorated by myself in Glossop. ’

Come and unleash your creativity with like-minded artists!
